Our Commitment

Sustaining oceans. Feeding the future.

Sustaining Oceans, Nourishing the Future

As demand for premium seafood grows, responsible production is key. Wild seafood remains one of the most natural and high-quality protein sources when managed correctly, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the best the ocean has to offer. At the same time, aquaculture creates new opportunities—allowing us to scale production while reducing pressure on wild stocks. When done the right way, both wild and farmed seafood can work together to meet increasing demand while protecting the health of our oceans.

With the global population expected to reach 10 billion by 2050, the need for sustainable and efficient food production will continue to grow. Seafood, when responsibly sourced and farmed, offers a unique opportunity to meet this demand while maintaining the health of marine ecosystems. By balancing well-managed wild fisheries with the growth of responsible aquaculture, we can ensure long-term availability of high-quality seafood without compromising the future of our oceans. At Sirena Group, we are committed to transitioning towards better practices wherever possible—working with partners, adopting innovative solutions, and continuously improving methods to make seafood production more responsible.

At Sirena Group, we believe in a balanced approach, ensuring that both wild and farmed seafood thrive for generations to come.

Serious About Our Suppliers

Our ambition is to collaborate with suppliers who are equally committed to maintaining the health of our oceans and the species that inhabit them. We partner with suppliers that value product quality and modern production methods.

During onboarding, suppliers undergo a due diligence review to ensure compliance with necessary processes and accreditations. We prioritize aligning our values with those of our suppliers, particularly their commitment to responsible practices.

At Sirena Group, the majority of our processing plants are certified by one or more of the following reputable organizations, including:

Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)
Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC)
British Retail Consortium (BRC)
International Featured Standards (IFS)
Global G.A.P (GAP)

These certifications reflect our unwavering dedication to traceability, empowering our customers to make responsible purchasing decisions.

Valuing Our People

We prioritize the well-being of our workforce, taking pride in providing a safe work environment for our team, whether in our offices or affiliated processing plants. Our commitment to a code of conduct ensures personal dignity, equal treatment, and the rights of every individual.

Committed to the Community

Even small actions give meaning. The examples below show a few concrete ways we give back — but they are small by design.

Our primary impact comes from how we run the business every day. We apply clear principles — transparency, responsibility and continuous improvement — across procurement, processing and distribution. By setting high supplier standards, insisting on full traceability and third-party certification, choosing renewable energy and continually cutting emissions through smarter logistics and operations, we create systemic, long-term benefits that far outweigh any single one-off action.

We support research into childhood brain cancer

Sirena Group sponsors the Charity Concert for the Children’s Brain Cancer Foundation to help fund vital research. Since 2013 the Foundation has built national research infrastructure— including the biobank at Rigshospitalet— and leads collaborative projects aiming for curative treatments (MobilePay: 42357)

We offset our office electricity with solar energy

In 2024 our head office consumed ~38 MWh of electricity. To reduce our operational emissions we subscribe to The 0-Mission solar park, adding the equivalent amount of solar energy to the grid and supporting Denmark’s transition away from fossil fuels.

We sponsor young athletes who inspire

We proudly sponsor Maja Kryger Rasmussen, currently #1 in Denmark and #3 in the world (age group 18–24), who is qualified for the IRONMAN World Championship — Hawaii 2025. Maja also shares her experiences and motivation with our team at internal events.

We combine staff engagement and giving

Our annual Christmas Sweater Day pairs company spirit with charitable action: for every sweater worn, Sirena Group donates to Julemærkefonden to support bullied and lonely children in Denmark.

Goals for Good

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) underpin our sustainability strategy. We align with the following goals:

Utilizing our oceans to combat global hunger

Promoting a healthy balanced diet

Engaging in responsible consumption and production

Acting responsibly to mitigate climate change impacts

Ensuring responsible use of oceans and marine resources
